A Registered Massage Therapist provides massage therapy as a regulated health professional to elicit muscles relaxation and decrease tension. Our Registered Massage Therapists often work closely with the Physical Therapist to combine passive and active treatments.
Massage therapy when combined with rest, a proper diet, and daily exercise can improve a person’s health and vitality.
Typical massage therapy sessions include different techniques which help alleviate muscle tension and trigger points aka “knots”. Deep moist heat, such as a thermaphore (heating pad) helps to relax connective tissue which can bind muscle fibers that cause and perpetuate the tension. Manual Lymphatic Drainage, which is a lighter touch, creates a pumping effect which is followed through the lymph system. Deeper tissue massage techniques help to penetrate deeper muscles. Lighter or faster techniques allow for a flushing effect on the loosened tissue. For a greater sense of warmth and comfort ask for a hot stone massage treatment. Our registered massage therapists are also skilled at pregnancy massage techniques.
If you have more questions about any of our massage therapy services such as deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, hot stone massage, or aromatherapy we invite you to the call the Health Centre of Milton to talk with the front desk staff about registered massage therapy.
Please note that all of our therapists are registered and therefore the allotted treatment time includes a brief discussion about your health, hands on therapy followed by recommendations for home care and dressing time.
