Acupuncture is a safe, non-invasive therapy used to promote natural healing and reduce pain.
Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine which has provided effective relief for centuries. Acupuncture treatment involves inserting a series of specially designed needles into the skin at specific points in the body. Acupuncture needles are very fine, flexible and slide smoothly through tissue so they do not cause bleeding or tissue damage.
There is no drug injected through the needles; the presence of the needles themselves provides stimulation that achieves the beneficial effects of acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture has been known to provide effective, natural treatment for many conditions.
We have four practitioners at the Health Centre of Milton who provide acupuncture in their treatments.
If you are seeking acupuncture in conjunction with manual therapy for a musculoskeletal complaint, (ie back pain relief, sciatica treatment, headaches, TMJ disorders, sport injury rehabilitation) you will be scheduled in with either the physical therapist/physio or chiropractor for your assessment and treatment.
If you are experience any other health issues (asthma, allergies, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, conception difficulties, childbirth/ lactation difficulties, digestion or sleep problems) you will be scheduled in with our naturopath who will assess and discuss holistic treatment options including acupuncture.
Furthermore if you are looking for a more traditional approach to either a systemic issue or a musculoskeletal complaint you will be scheduled with our Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncturist. Matthew may incorporate acupuncture treatments with diet recommendations and tuina massage and cupping.
